The Making of Amade
My time with Amade follows on from a chance assignment, when a musical troupe needed a photographer for a session on the London Eye. After that initial session many assignments for the group followed. Whenever Nick, the charismatic/goading leader, required some headshots or publicity images he'd give me a call and along I would pop. In between that variety of bread and butter work I had the opportunity to shoot some of what happens before the show; the preparation and rehearsals these talented professionals undertake to ensure their performances are as entertaining and enlightening as they can be. What I found during those sessions was that many of the performers fit these shows and rehearsals in around regular day jobs, studies or the irregular life of a working musician. Why do they do it? In the main because they love to perform and they happily put in hours of evening rehearsals to give those performances, along with quite a lot of coffee. This portfolio is meant to provide a small glimpse of what all the troupe members put in as well as the never ceasing organisation and management of their leader Nick
